What we do – and what you can do

Adem Vrij aan het IJ (loosely translated as: ‘Breathe freely at the IJ waterfront’) wants clean air for NDSM and Tuindorp Oostzaan. We are an independent neighbourhood initiative in Tuindorp Oostzaan, Kadoelen and NDSM neighbourhoods.

First of all, we focus on cleaner air in our residential areas. We want an end to the stench and air pollution from, among others, the factory of ICL Fertilizers and Bunge’s soy factory, both located in Westpoort across the IJ-channel.

We are committed to real, structural solutions, not to fake solutions that would mean to just be dumping issues elsewhere. We stand in solidarity with other neighbourhoods and do not want to burden them with this stench and air pollution.

We are independent of political parties and commercial enterprises.

Community members who get involved through Adem Vrij do so as a volunteer and with the aim of improving the living environment in our neighbourhoods.

We are always looking for volunteers. If you do not have time but can spare a few euro’s, please consider a donation to our crowdfunder.

🚨 Join us in demanding action from the provinical authorities 🚨

For too long, ICL Fertilizers has been polluting our air, affecting our health and community. We’re done waiting. It’s time to make our voices heard!

The province is overseeing the renewal of the environmental license for ICL Fertilizers. We want them to take a stronger stance for clean air in our neighbourhoods! Send in your personal message to the deputy for Environment, Jeroen Olthof. We will collect all the messages and put them together on a huge New Years’ postcard. We will personally give the card to Mr Olthof on January 20 at 5:30pm at Zonneplein – be there too if possible!
